Pure matcha contributes relatively few calories at the small weights normally used in a drink. The larger calorie differences usually come from milk, sweeteners, fruit components and toppings.
Straight matcha
A bowl made with matcha and water contains only the matcha itself. Water adds no calories.
Matcha lattes
The total depends on the exact milk, quantity, syrup and toppings. Two 16 oz matcha lattes can differ substantially even when both use 4 grams of matcha.
How to calculate your recipe
- Record the grams of matcha.
- Use the nutrition label for the exact milk and quantity.
- Add syrup, purée, honey or sugar.
- Include foam, cream and toppings.
